In March, we completed a reed thatching project located approximately 100 meters from the North Sea. The property is a historic building constructed in the 1800s. Its previous thatched roof, installed in 1978, utilized the sewn method with metal wire — a testament to its excellent service life of over four decades.

The roof structure included two roof windows facing the street and one large roof window on the yard-facing side. The larger window was originally installed with a 20-degree slope, which did not meet current drainage or aesthetic standards. We reconstructed this section to achieve a 30-degree pitch, improving both performance and appearance.

Additionally, a roof-integrated ventilation outlet was installed. A custom copper ventilation outlet was fabricated and fitted in accordance with modern thatching standards to ensure durability and compatibility with the reed system.

This project was successfully completed thanks to the skilled craftsmanship of my team members, Kristaps and Olle.
